Highlights from the CUB Affiliates Gathering: Learning, Updates & Partnerships, held on October 29, 2024, at the OCVAS Training Center, Bolbok, Batangas City.


As part of this year's Cooperative Month Celebration, the Cooperative Union of Batangas (CUB) showcased key updates, achievements and plans while also recognizing the invaluable contributions of our partners. This gathering aimed to inspire through learning, honor partnerships and introduce new collaborations.


Key Event highlights:

Learning:

Mr. Bienvenido Nito delivered an inspiring and informative talk titled "Leading with Purpose: Building Sustainability and Succession in Cooperatives", providing valuable insights on building lasting cooperative legacies.


Updates:

Executive Myra Ebora shared CUB's recent accomplishments, which included a series of training sessions conducted virtually and face to face; community outreach programs, and initiatives focused on technical assistance and services to affiliates in form of donation of tool and equipment. She also outlined CUB's upcoming plans for the remaining months of 2024.


Youth Perspective / Testimony:

Christina Angela Dela Peña , Junior Chairperson of SIDC's Laboratory Cooperative , shared her journey, emphasizing the importance of youth involvement in cooperatives.

Recognition of Partners:

CUB recognized National University Lipa & PCLEDO for their commitment to training and education. Special Recognition was also presented to Ms. Marciana Dagus, a Supervising Cooperative Development Specialist with over 30 years of service to the cooperative sector.


New Partnership:

The event marked the introduction of CUB's new partners - 1CISP, Integr8 Software Solutions, Inc., Batangas State University (BSU) & Pondong Batangan Community Foundation. These partnership were commenced through a Ceremonial Signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU). These collaborations will drive future initiatives in training & education, research, digital innovation and social & community development.

CUB is grateful to OCVAS and the Batangas City Government who generously provided the venue. Additionally, to companies/partners including 1CISP, Integr8 Software Solutions, iFern and Hannah Sofie, for their booth installations, raffle prizes and give-aways, which added excitement to the event.

During the event, CUB also launched its Donation Drive for the benefit of typhoon Kristine victims in the province and the Bicol region. CUB extends its appreciation to those who have already contributed and those who are willing to participate in the donation drive, particularly the affiliate cooperatives.
